Ways to Support Us

Your support makes a tremendous difference for women in developing countries and their families. To give you some examples from past projects of how a little bit can go a long way in our project countries, did you know…?

• $500 trains & provides education kits to 25 health workers in Bolivia to provide basic health education and services to over a thousand rural women and their families
• $150 expands the business of a female entrepreneur in Honduras which gives her and her family income, security and self-sufficiency
• $100 provides training for 80 women in Brazil with basic bookkeeping skills
• Even $25 will treat a woman in Nicaragua who has a pre-cancerous growth in her uterus

Creative Giving Options

Donating Through the United Way

Although GEMS of Hope is not a United Way agency, you can designate GEMS of Hope as the recipient of any gifts you make through your employee payroll deduction to the United Way. Just indicate on your payroll pledge form:

• Our Name: GEMS of Hope
• Our Charitable Business Number: 12703 3124 RR

The United Way will issue your charitable receipt, and send your donation to us. It’s an easy way to support your workplace United Way campaign and GEMS of Hope with a single gift.

Personal Cheque

Please make your cheque payable to GEMS of Hope and mail to:

Post-dated cheques are also accepted. A receipt will be issued after your funds have been deposited.

Planned Giving or Bequest

Leave a Legacy to GEMS of Hope

Legacy gifts are often referred to as planned gifts. The beauty of planning a gift is that it enables you to satisfy your philanthropic objectives as well as your personal goals of providing for your heirs. This way you ensure that a portion of your estate will benefit the participants of GEMS of Hope projects.

In-Kind Donations

Donate materials, supplies or services.  Please contact us, we will be happy to discuss what you have in mind.  An in-kind tax receipt can be provided in many cases.

Coordinate a Fundraising Event

We continuously promote GEMS and appeal for action to the public through all sorts of fundraising events. Check with us regularly to see what's coming up.

Third Party Events

There are many ways for you to get involved by coordinating your own fundraising event and donating the proceeds to GEMS of Hope. Here are just a few ideas to consider - use your imagination and have fun with it:  

• Host a Street Garage Sale or your own Yard Sale
• Coordinate a Company Used Book Sale or Church Bake Sale
• Syndicate your pledge -- form a group that commits to donating a certain amount each year for 2-5 years
• Ask your favorite local merchant (candle/soap maker, pet shop, used book store, coffee shop, toy store, etc.) to provide you with a donated or discounted product to sell to co-workers, gym mates, aunts & uncles, etc.
• Organize your own Gala with silent auction and food
• Hold a Wine Tasting or Martini party
• Coordinate a Poker Run, Road Race or Mountain Biking event
• Organize a lecture, a series of lectures or a book reading or poetry evening

Whatever you decide to do, take pictures of your fundraiser and send them to us! Any event that helps to promote public awareness of GEMS of Hope and the work we do makes a great difference to the continuance of our health, education and microcredit programs.
